El objetivo de este\u00a0d\u00eda es concienciar a la poblaci\u00f3n sobre la enfermedad y lograr compartir conocimientos e investigaci\u00f3n para mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes con hemofilia.<\/p>\n<p>La hemofilia es una enfermedad hereditaria, padecida en su gran mayor\u00eda por hombres, que se caracteriza por manifestaciones hemorr\u00e1gicas causadas por las bajas concentraciones plasm\u00e1ticas de los factores de coagulaci\u00f3n VIII (Hemofilia A, la m\u00e1s com\u00fan) o IX (Hemofilia B). Por otro lado existe la \u201chemofilia adquirida\u201d (HA), enfermedad autoinmune producida por el desarrollo de un inhibidor del factor VIII; con mayor prevalencia en pacientes a\u00f1osos y de sexo masculino pero que tambi\u00e9n puede presentarse en mujeres j\u00f3venes durante el embarazo y post parto, o con enfermedades autoinmunes.<\/p>\n<p>La principal manifestaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica es la hemorragia en diversas partes del cuerpo como articulaciones, boca y enc\u00edas. Por la intensidad de la misma se puede clasificar en: hemofilia leve, moderada y severa. Otras manifestaciones son hemorragias nasales frecuentes o dif\u00edciles de detener, moretones, sangre en la orina o en las heces; en los reci\u00e9n nacidos, hemorragias en la cabeza despu\u00e9s de un parto dif\u00edcil.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, para poder realizar el diagn\u00f3stico en aquellos que tienen el antecedente de familiares que padecen hemofilia,\u00a0 se est\u00e1n llevando a cabo t\u00e9cnicas tales como la toma de muestras de vellosidad cori\u00f3nica o de l\u00edquido amni\u00f3tico para evaluar la actividad del factor VIII. Por otro lado, una vez producido el nacimiento se puede medir la actividad de los factores VIII o IX en el cord\u00f3n umbilical. Entre los estudios de laboratorio, el diagn\u00f3stico de hemofilia se confirma por los niveles bajos del factor VIII o IX. En el caso de la HA el diagn\u00f3stico va a depender de la presencia de anticuerpos inhibidores del factor VIII\u00a0 y de una disminuci\u00f3n de este factor en plasma.<\/p>\n<p>Con respecto al tratamiento, el objetivo principal es prevenir y tratar las hemorragias con el factor deficiente. En general, se recomienda el uso de concentrados del factor VIII o IX.
