Seg\u00fan el virus que haya infectado a la persona, la hepatitis se puede clasificar en cinco tipos: A, B, C, D y E. La afecci\u00f3n puede evolucionar hacia una fibrosis, una cirrosis o un c\u00e1ncer de h\u00edgado.<br \/>Las hepatitis A y E se contraen al ingerir alimentos o agua contaminados. Se vinculan con las malas condiciones de higiene y asepsia en la vida diaria, y con el mal manejo de aguas cloacales. Las hepatitis B, C y D se transmiten, principalmente, por sangre y v\u00eda sexual. Adem\u00e1s, la hepatitis B puede ser contra\u00edda por el beb\u00e9 durante el parto.<br \/>La infecci\u00f3n aguda puede acompa\u00f1arse de pocos s\u00edntomas o de ninguno; tambi\u00e9n puede producir manifestaciones como la ictericia (coloraci\u00f3n amarillenta de la piel y los ojos), orina oscura, fatiga intensa, n\u00e1useas, v\u00f3mitos y dolor abdominal. La enfermedad puede permanecer asintom\u00e1tica por muchas semanas.<br \/>Existen vacunas seguras y efectivas contra los virus de la hepatitis A y B, que resultan de suma importancia para la prevenci\u00f3n de esta enfermedad. Una vez contra\u00edda, la hepatitis B es cr\u00f3nica y puede presentar complicaciones mayores. La hepatitis C no cuenta con vacuna hasta las fecha, pero s\u00ed tiene cura (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paho.org\/es\/temas\/hepatitis\">OPS<\/a>).<br \/>Adem\u00e1s, la prevenci\u00f3n puede lograrse a trav\u00e9s del uso de preservativos y\/o campos de l\u00e1tex, uso de guantes al manipular flu\u00eddos corporales, utilizaci\u00f3n de jeringas y equipos m\u00e9dicos nuevos o debidamente esterilizados, manejo adecuado de heces y orina, entre otros.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La hepatitis es una enfermedad causada por uno de cinco virus y que produce la inflamaci\u00f3n del h\u00edgado.
